Guild Instructors Update (Gretchen Lowerison, Governing Board Member, gretchen@hwg.org) Thanks to all of you for such wonderful response on our call for instructors. We have gotten plenty of applications, and will be contacting some of you shortly with more information. 2. HWG presenting at the Australasian Online Documentation Conference (Christopher Higgs, Governing Board Member, chris@hwg.org) Building on the success of previous conferences in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the 2001 Conference covers a host of topics relevant to Help Authoring. Hosted at Rydges, Canberra, AODC 2001 will feature a collection of expert speakers from around the world, including Joe Welinske from WinWriters (USA), Chris Higgs from the HTML Writer's Guild, Matthew Ellison from Digitext (UK), specialist speakers from Microsoft, and internationally recognised Australian experts including Tony Self, the founder of HyperWrite. As a representative of the HWG, Chris will be explaining XML-based technologies.  For most web developers, some of the critical technology is still under development and implementation is lagging. Help-authors however are often strategically placed to take advantage of XML's benefits immediately. This session not only looks at what XML is and where the technology is headed in the future, but more importantly uses examples of how it can be used today. More information can be found at http://conference.hyperwrite.com.au/ 3.  HWG Membership Gift Certificates     (Marshall Jansen, HWG-News Editor, hwg-news-tips@hwg.org) The HTML Writers Guild is proud to now offer gift certificates! http://www.hwg.org/services/classes/giftmember.html You can purchase a Gift Certificate good for one year of full membership in the HTML Writers Guild, with all of the benefits that membership provides. (Marshall Jansen, HWG-News Editor, editor@hwg.org) The Guild had a limited run of T-shirts at the Internet World in Spring of 1998, and they proved popular enough that we ordered a batch to sell and give away. While people loved the shirts, they only came in one color (white), and two sizes (XL, and XXL). Due to popular demand, we have widened our variety a bit. We now offer Guild-logo shirts in both black and white shirt colors. The black t-shirts are going fast, and our size selection is getting limited, so order soon! These shirts are high quality, and feature the Guild logo and URL screen printed on the front. The shirts are $24, shipping included ($28 for foreign shipping), and you can get an order form here: http://www.hwg.org/opcenter/guildwear/order.txt You can see the T-shirts here: http://www.hwg.org/opcenter/guildwear/ Show your support of the Guild by wearing the logo! 5.
