Element
A part of an HTML document, such as BODY, P, STRONG, or SPAN

Attribute
A quality of an element -- often optional, but sometimes required -- such as ALT, SRC, LONGDESC, or TITLE

Tag
The actual symbols indicating the start (and usually, end) of an element, including the attributes of that element
