3. Member Services

Request for Proposals -- Member Service Development

Volunteers are needed to be moderators for the Request For Proposals (RFP) system.

This service will be provided as an accessible and convenient means for HWG Plus and Institutional members to distribute Requests For Proposals. RFPs are for contractual or freelance projects only. The RFP service is not a place for posting resumes or help-wanted advertisements. (We are currently developing services to meet those needs.)

Contact Damon Zirkler for more information.

The HWG Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page has links to FAQs in various areas, including CGI, Java/Javascript, Basic HTML, Validation, Graphics, and Guild Operations. The FAQ team is also proud to provide many FAQs written and hosted by HWG Members. These include:

  • Copyright Issues
  • Pricing Issues
  • How to Set Your Rates
  • Frames
  • Cascading Style Sheets
  • Filtering Your E-mail (covers most clients!)
  • E-mail tips and hints
  • Members FAQ
  • Contracts (with many links to examples)

Next time you have a question, stop by for the answer.

The FAQ team is always looking for dedicated self-motivated individuals who are willing to help write a FAQ. For a list of current openings, please see

Mentor/Apprentice Program Notice

Unfortunately, we have had a problem with the database of applicants for the mentor/apprentice program and have lost many applications. If you applied prior to 15 October 1997, please re-submit your application by going to

for mentor registration, or

for apprentice registration. We apologize for this inconvenience. We should have the program completely functional by the end of the year.

You do not need to be a paying member to volunteer to be a mentor.
